Hiatus!

Hello my dear readers! I’ve been the most terrible and inefficient blogger of late, and by the looks of it I’ll only really resume in July. I’m currently travelling around Italy and Greece, and internet is scarce and expensive around here! I hate to leave this place alone for so long, but there’ll be many updates when I’m back to blogging full-time. In the meanwhile, ciao and take good care everyone!

xx.

Freshness Burger @ Nex

I’ve been longing to make a visit to Freshness Burger ever since it popped up in Singapore all those months back when I was overseas! Finally headed down to Nex to give it a try one weekday lunch, and perhaps the fever has subsided, but there wasn’t a long queue and seating was ample. We placed our order, then sat ourselves down in a comfy booth seat while waiting for our orders to be prepared a-la-minute.

Real Onion Rings, so elusive in Singapore!

Look at those thick, chunky cuts of tomato and onion in the Cheese Burger! Love their special blend of cheese mmm.

The Freshness Burger was the winner for me! That special meat sauce, the diced up onions, the chunk of sweet tomato and that soft, fluffy pumpkin bun… delish. The meat patties for both burgers were surprisingly thin (get their Classic burgers if you need more meat) but super tender and moist. A light burger that feels almost healthy, but satisfying at the same time.

This is, very possibly, my favourite fast food chain in Singapore at this very moment. Beats the mass produced, dry stuff at the golden arches, and I don’t really care for oversized burgers by CJ either.

A cute little gelato shop right near the Joo Chiat area, Coccogelo prides itself on churning out artisan gelato, with some unique flavours launched every week. Unfortunately, nothing novel caught my eye that day I went, so I settled for some less adventurous (but my standard favourite) flavours of Pistachio, Nutella, and Brandy Cherry Mocha. Overall the gelato was not too bad, texture was smooth, but the flavours could have been more intense and rich for me. The pistachio was slightly perfume-y, but not as nutty delicious as the one from the Basilico buffet. Nutella was a tad too mild, but the brandy cherry mocha was deep and rich – by far the best flavour of the lot.

I hear they do some pretty funky creations, perhaps I’ll drop in the next time I’m in the area to try my luck again!
